When did you start CF?
What are your favorite numbers and why?
12 and 21. Mine and my husbands jersey numbers griwing up
What CF movements do you like?
Deadlifts, push presses, back squats. Is it weird to say I like running even though I hate doing it? Does that make sense? I like knowing that everytime I do it I’m getting better. Part of the reason I joined crossfit kanna is to get better at the things I suck at.
What CF movements do you dislike?
RUNNING. But take note previous statement ^
What sports or fitness things did you do before CF?
Softball, soccer, field hockey, football, basketball- anything with a ball really
How did you find CF? What was your first workout?
Base camp workout? Box jumps and wall balls. I think I was out of breath for an hour. It was a 3 min workout and that’s when it clicked in my head that I needed this.
What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?
I love the small group training. Keeps me more focused and motivated. The community Kanna has is super supportive and that makes you want to come do the workouts. Even the workouts you know you’re going to hate. It’s nice to know we all are going to hate it together!
What are your hobbies?
I feel like I find a different hobby every month. I love to explore and learn new things. The ones that stay consistent are traveling, anything sports related, and do my dogs count?
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’m a twin- identical. We used to switch classes in high school and I would take her English tests for her. My husband and I got married in Iceland. I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie aaaaaandd I run a non profit youth community softball league. We have 12 teams with ages running from 6- 19 years.
What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of?
Finally did a pull up!! Took over a year. And losing over 10lbs of fat
What’s on your CF bucket list?
Run a mile under 10 min and complete another nutrition challenge.
What’s on your general bucket list?
Travel EVERYWHERE. Travis and I like to all keep a stack of travel books. I think we have about 30- 40 books. It just keeps adding up. Our next trip is hopefully Norway where we plan to white water raft and bungee jump. Everywhere we go we try to plan some extreme adventures.
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) CrossFitters?
Stop making excuses and DO IT!
Anything else you’d like to mention?
I was always really into fitness and sports. But 2017- 2018 some major life events happened and I went into a big slump. I wasn’t taking care of myself at all. I decided to join a crossfit gym in hopes it would motivate me again. That’s just what CrossFit Kanna has provided for me! Not only am I motivated to do a workout but also in nutrition, my work, and just life in general! Thank you CrossFit Kanna.
***Kanna members: Katelyn’s custom workout will be TBD (obviously)***
How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna ideals of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
